Hotel Settles with Former Worker with Autism

SAN DIEGO -- An autistic man who had been fired from his job as a San Diego hotel desk clerk will be paid $125,000 under a court settlement stemming from a lawsuit that alleged employment discrimination.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit in 2008 against hotel operator and developer Tarsadia Hotels, which was doing business as Comfort Suites, under both the American with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Act.
The action was taken after the hotel issued several disciplinary reports to employee Linus Markle and ultimately fired him from his job as a front desk clerk at the Comfort Suites Mission Valley hotel.
