Questions Linger with N.J.'s Closings of Centers

TRENTON, N.J. -- North Jersey will bear the brunt of the decision by a state panel to close two of the state’s seven developmental centers in the next five years, in terms of job losses and the impact on the disabled people who live in the public institutions.
But if Christie administration officials are true to their word, the region also will see an influx of millions of dollars for the establishment and expansion of community residences and other private-sector services for the disabled.
