Christie Administration, Disability Rights Group Settle Suits Over Community Services

The Christie administration and New Jersey’s leading advocacy group for the rights of the disabled on Tuesday settled two longstanding lawsuits charging that the state had failed to provide adequate community services for people with developmental disabilities.
Under the terms of the agreement, the administration commits to pouring millions into the community programs, both for current residents of New Jersey’s publicly owned developmental centers and for thousands of disabled individuals living at home who are now on a state waiting list for services.
